Welcome to 2020 in 2nd Class! Read on to hear of some of the things we are learning about.

We have begun our China projects and are having great fun completing them. Look out for them in the corridor. They will be on display soon and we will show you all we have learned. In Art, we have made Chinese lanterns, attempted to write our names in Chinese and also made some colourful Chinese dragons.

We are reading a Class Novel at the moment called ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark.’ It’s a lovely story about a little Barn Owl called Plop who is trying to discover some reasons why he should like the dark. Be sure to ask your kids about what is happeneing in the story. We are also learning how to find words in a dictionary. It is very useful to be able to do this to help us with our spellings and also to learn the meanings of new words. Now that we are in 2nd Class we are trying to use more interesting words in our writing. Today we came up with lots of alternatives to the word ‘said’  – look at our list!

PE in January is lots of fun because we use our gymnastic equipment. We are learning different ways of travelling, balancing and rolling. We have completed the log roll, the tuck roll and the dish roll. They can show you at home! We are also learning how to jump and land with the correct technique as well and climb and balance on the frames, benches, ladders and mats.

We begin swimming on the 5th of February so remember to pack those swimming bags on Tuesday nights!
