Sixth class has had a very successful first two months. While we are nearly finished our swimming for the year and we have finished our Bray Drug’s Awareness lessons with Clay, we have a lot of exciting activities planned for the rest of the term.
We are beginning to plan our Christmas play which we will be performing in the Large Hall at 7.30pm on Wednesday 20th of December. It promises to be a very entertaining show. Tickets will be available from early December as there is limited space available in the hall.
We have also begun our Genius Hour projects which we are very excited about. These are self-led projects and we have each chosen a topic which we are particularly interested in. Each pupil will be presenting their project to the class and to other members of the school community when they are completed. Each project will be very different and presentations may take lots of different forms e.g. powerpoint presentation, video, model, animation, poster etc. Genius Hour is an initiative which is being undertaken in schools around the world. It is based on Google’s 20% project which enables employees to spend time each week on personal projects.
We also had fantastic news in 6th class this month. Zara and Aimee were both winners in the under 14s category of the Bray Drug’s Awareness Art Competition. The girls attended a lovely prize giving ceremony in The Esplanade Hotel in Bray and were presented with great prizes and a certificate. Congratulations girls!
