We have all settled in well to Senior Infants and can’t believe it is October already!
September was a busy month for us as we settled into our new classroom, got used to our new teacher, learned our new routines, revised lots of the work we completed in Junior Infants and completed work based on our theme of the month ‘School’.
One of our favourite things we did in September was Aistear. This is where we got to explore the theme of the month in four different activity areas.
In the Role-play area we acted out our school day, from being dropped off in the morning, to practising our reading and having school assemblies. We really enjoyed being the teacher, especially when Ms. Fleming was pretending to be one of the children!
In the Construction area we created different schools using Lego. Our schools had lots of different features, including large classrooms, a luxurious Principal’s office with it’s own personal car parking space and a vegetable patch.
In the Small World area we created school scenes using different blocks and characters. Our schools all had different features that we would love to have in our house, including a tree house, swimming pool, pet school and pet garden.
In the Junk Art area we were busy using cardboard and other materials to create schools. We learned lots about problem-solving and had to improvise when different furniture we created didn’t fit in the school building that others in our group were creating!
This month our theme is The Post Office and we look forward to sharing what we have been up to at the end of the month!
