The past few months in Senior Infants have been really busy and we can’t believe that Term 2 is nearly at an end! Here is a snapshot of what we got up to during the second term.

In January, we looked at the theme of The Garda Station. We are extremely lucky that we have a parent in the class who is a Garda Detective and she very kindly came in and taught us lots about the work of a Garda. We set up a crime scene and had a chance to solve the crime. She also took our fingerprints and we were able to bring these home. We are so grateful that she was able to come in.

Getting our fingerprints taken.

In February, we set up an Estate Agents in our classroom and studied the different types of houses that people live in. We had great fun creating advertisements for the houses and building different houses in the Small World and Junk Art areas.

We built an apartment block in the Small World area.

Creating detached houses in the Junk Art area.

Throughout March we explored the theme of The Farm. Some of us have relatives that own farms so we were able to share stories from our times there. We learned about farm animals, buildings on a farm, how to stay safe on the farm and how to look after the environment.

Using vegetables to print and create pictures.

This is one of the farms we created in the Small World area. Can you spot the school tour arriving at the farm?

So far in April we have been exploring the theme of the Zoo. We will share some of the things that we have been up to at the end of the month.

We hope you all have a lovely Easter break and enjoy the holidays! We’ll be back at the end of April for our final term in Senior Infants!
