We were delighted to welcome members of the Greystones Coast Guard to St. Andrew’s N.S. for a special visit. Every class had the opportunity to attend an engaging and informative talk delivered by John, who spoke to the students about water safety, tides, and what to do in an emergency. He emphasised the importance of swimming safely and only in designated areas and also taught the children about the dangers of riptides.
After the talk, each class had the exciting chance to see the Coast Guard rescue boat up close. Kenny gave a tour of the boat and explained how the equipment is used during rescue operations. The visit was both educational and inspiring, and we are very grateful to the Greystones Coast Guard for sharing their knowledge and time with us.
It was a memorable day that taught us all the importance of staying safe around water.
